Police report approximately 15 Pro-Palestinian protesters are gathered in an orderly fashion on the sidewalk in front of Columbia University, with no counter-protesters present.
The overwhelming majority of arrests were made "without incident," the NYPD says.
Preliminary charges for those arrested range from trespass, to criminal mischief, to burglary, the NYPD said.
Approximately 300 people were arrested at Columbia and City College, Adams said. NYPD officials are working to determine which of those in custody are students.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the NYPD went into Columbia last night at the university's request, after the school confirmed "outside agitators" were involved in the occupation of Hamilton Hall.
Over 200 people were arrested last night after the NYPD entered a building using a vehicle named "the bear" where protesters were barricaded.

The Nakba started decades ago. It's time for change. What is going on in Gaza is unconscionable.
@Realistic1 you have no clue what you are talking about. Hamas is a terrorist organization that has killed several thousand innocent Israeli civilians just for being alive. Hamas hides itself in hospitals, schools, mosques and the like to inflict as much carnage on its own people to rally your support. Truth be told, the people that are living in Gaza were kicked out of several countries before Israel bent over backwards to allow them to have a place to live. Iran is also helping Hamas and Hezbollah and has vowed to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Please do yourself a huge favor and educate yourself from sources other than MSNBC and CNN.
Everyone whoโs angry at these protest would have supported segregation and been just as mad at those protest too.
@NewYorkUser800582004 ainโt that the truth
Most of these people think theyโre revolutionaries. Youโre a joke and the governments laughs at you all
