Ten People Injured, Two Critically, After NYPD Cruiser Careened Into Crowd on Sidewalk

Police officers attempting to get around a car careened into a sidewalk in Foxhurst Thursday afternoon, sending 10 people to the hospital, officials said.
At around 3:10 p.m., police responded to a report of an auto theft near the rea of Westchester Avenue and Hoe Avenue.
While en route to a search for the vehicle, officers stopped in traffic and crossed the double line at Hoe Avenue in an attempt to go around a car in front of them.
That car, however, made a left turn, causing the NYPD cruiser to lose control and drive up onto a sidewalk, striking several people, according to NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey.
Medics responded and evaluated injuries among the 8 victims and two officers. Six of the victims were taken to area hospitals where two were listed in critical condition.
Two of the victims are children, ages 5 and 2 years old.
Both officers were also hospitalized.
Internal investigators are evaluating the events and the actions of officers.

A two year old who was in the other car was injured. On the sidewalk: A five year old and his mother were pinned against the wall by the police suv. An elderly pedestrian with a walker was also injured. Two other pedestrians were also hit, but refused medical treatment. Praying 🙏 that they all survive.
