Suspect in Custody After Fifteen-Hour Standoff

According to an updated report from the San Francisco Police Department, at around 6:36 AM Tuesday morning, a suspect was seen brandishing a knife at a person. Officers who came upon the suspect opened fire and the suspect fled into the Glide Memorial Church. The suspect surrendered to authorities after a more than fifteen-hour standoff and was safely taken into custody.

The suspect is reportedly still holding a knife.

The situation is ongoing. A SFPD spokesperson told KPIX that no one else is in the building and it's unknown if the suspect was injured in the officer-involved shooting.
