Citizen has corrected the number of injured to 3 people dead; a previous reporting of multiple injured by a fire was in error caused by firefighter radio at another major response occurring simultaneously.

Authorities have confirmed a third person has been pronounced dead from the incident.

Thomas is facing multiple charges including attempted murder, five counts of murder, arson, two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal possession of a weapon.

The NYPD has identified the suspect as 33-year-old Kegan Thomas of Ocean Crest Boulevard.

CORRECTION: Police confirm the suspect was shot. However, he was not killed and has been taken into custody.

The 28-year-old woman has since been identified as Selena Ponce and the 56-year-old woman has been identified as Clemer Ponce.

EMS responded and pronounced the aided females deceased at the scene.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 28-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder and a 56-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the upper right chest.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at approximately 11:56 a.m., police responded to a 911 call for shots fired inside 25-33 Ocean Crest Boulevard.

The NYPD has released additional details regarding this incident.

Citizen has corrected the number of injured to 3 people dead; a previous reporting of multiple injured by a fire was in error caused by firefighter radio at another major response occurring simultaneously.
