Summary
- A massive blaze involving solar panels erupted at a Lineage cold storage facility Wednesday afternoon in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, sending an enormous plume of smoke into the air and prompting a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area amid concerns of an ammonia leak.
- Hundreds of user videos captured intense smoke filling the area, with a giant cloud visible across the skyline from miles away.
- The rooftop fire, which began around 2:30 p.m., triggered the shelter-in-place order due to hazardous materials concerns after the blaze reached an ammonia line.
- At one point, the fire flared up, prompting LAFD crews to pull back from the building and assume a defensive position. At least four water-dropping helicopters assisted with the response.
- Authorities noted that the ammonia is not toxic unless people have respiratory issues or are in direct contact with it. The rooftop fire has since been extinguished.
- The shelter-in-place order — which covered the area south of the 101 Freeway to Washington Boulevard and east of Soto Street to Indiana Street — was lifted around 8:45 p.m.
- Crews remain on scene assessing the interior and checking for additional hazards.

Poisoning the air poisoning the food infections here infections there recalls here recalls there. Just release the kraken already this is really dragging
My sentiments exactly.
These fires 🔥 are starting to look more and more suspect
This is what solar panels do. I will remind you that Costco and Walmart stores across the country put solar panels on their roofs with great fanfare 8 or 10 years ago, and almost silently removed all of them after many fires. They still had an electricity bill, plus the bills for the solar panel installation, plus any interest or other charges, and hundreds of millions of dollars of merchandise and hundreds of people right down below it, that's a completely stupid unacceptable risk. Solar panels are completely toxic as you have seen on this warehouse yesterday, and so are the batteries that supposedly make them work at night. This is a total scam.
It hurts to look at this. Poor planet😭🥀
