Timeline

Police are searching a brush area near the bridge, suspecting the individual may be hiding there.

Arrow 1, units check on the street. If you want to check right where our light's at here, there's a lot of brush area. This is the only other way I'm confident he ran when he bailed. Because, like I said, if he goes west, that's a high fence. I don't think he made it over. Okay, copy. If you feel safe to do so, if you want to switch this over to Metro, we're working on that.

Police believe the suspect may have crossed to the south side through an open fence under the bridge.

East LA Disp3 · 0:31
Herald. I think it's very possible that he either went west onto the off-ramp. If not, he crossed over to the south side and went in through that open fence onto the street. Because there's a high gate, and he's not going to make it over if he ran towards the north side of the street. There's no way he jumped that fence. So it's very possible that he crossed to the south side, cut open through that fence that's under the bridge.

Police are determining the suspect's direction after losing sight of the vehicle two minutes ago.

East LA Disp3 · 0:24
There is no traffic. So, uh, or at least traffic was light when we got here, so he could have gone on either side of the street, north or south. Any unit, from the time the, uh, they lost visual in the vehicle, you picked it up? What's the time span? About, I mean, two minutes.

Police describe the suspect as wearing a black sweatshirt and beanie, and being of shorter stature.

East LA Disp3 · 0:27
Unit confirming if you're going to be on westbound or eastbound lane? Hey, confirming, you don't have a white sweater on, right? It says the suspect we saw was wearing a black sweatshirt with a black beanie. And he appeared to be at least like 5'4", 5'5", he seems shorter.

Police report they have located the white Tahoe unoccupied on the freeway near Santa Fe.
