Summary
- Anti-Cruelty, 510 N LaSalle, took 33 of the dogs late Friday. The shelter says the youngest are two-month-old puppies and that most have had little contact with people, so they will need patient homes.
- The home has been condemned. Ruby Whiskers and Many Paws Global Rescue took in others and are fundraising to rehome them, according to NBC Chicago.
- Homeowner Andrew Malak, 58, is charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty and felony weapons offenses. Three guns were recovered, police say.
- Lemont police, Cook County Animal Control and the Sheriff's Animal Cruelty Unit removed 76 dogs living inside the house, the garage, the yard and the bushes while serving a Firearms Restraining Order warrant this week.
