Culver City Police Department NEWS RELEASE Jason Sims, Chief of Police On October 1, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Culver City Police Officers responded to multiple citizen reports of a car-to-car shooting in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Overland Avenue. Officers arrived in the area and contacted witnesses who described what appeared to be a road rage incident between the occupants of two vehicles. During the incident, one of the involved individuals reportedly discharged two rounds from what witnesses described as a black handgun. Culver City Police Officers and Detectives immediately conducted an area search and were able to locate both vehicles and the individuals involved. The subsequent investigation determined that during the road rage incident, one of the involved parties discharged two rounds from a handgun designed to fire blank ammunition. No live rounds were fired, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
