School Bus Involved in Early Morning Crash

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

The students appeared to be okay and were transferred to another bus to continue on to their school.

The school bus had several students on board at the time of the collision.

The male driver of the Kia was transported by Hall Ambulance with minor injuries.

The Kia had collided with the side of the school bus prior to the arrival of first responders.

Upon arrival, responders found the male driver of the black Kia outside the vehicle on the ground near the curb.

At approximately 6:53 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2026, the Bakersfield Fire Department, Hall Ambulance, and California Highway Patrol responded to the intersection of 34th Street and Chester Avenue for a reported collision involving a black Kia and a Kern County Superintendent of Schools bus.
