People have to understand that for children, and even for throwing sticks into the water for dogs, there is a short stretch of stable sand, and then it becomes mushy with a quick drop-off. You are not only fighting the current you are fighting a very strong undertow, which goes from the top of the country out to the ocean. A force that cannot be stopped. The river is not for swimming. The river is not for people to throw their dogs' sticks more than 2 feet out. How many decades and years have we known that people get pulled under and swept away only to try it again? A river is not a lake. You can drown in both, but a river is dynamic and likely not in your favor for even a strong swimmer. The sands and the sentiment are constantly changing most of which beyond going out to your calf is terribly unstable and then the force of the water…
