I was in the middle of the street when this happened, I’m so sad about this I saw babyboy as he completely avoided the bike lane. He did NOT have a helmet on, if he would’ve continued to ride straight he would’ve stayed in the bike lane. I remember looking at him like why?! And the driver of the SUV, who had the light, must’ve been startled by the boy because he had no business being in the same lane as him. There was nowhere for babyboy to go and the SUV knocked him off motor bike. I can still see his face when he made the decision to swerve OUT of the bike lane, it’s almost as if he was “showing off”. Still can’t believe I was the last person to see him alive. This really hurts RIP babyboy. Ugh

The number of cyclists I see who don’t wear helmets is insane. And they’re always the ones speeding through red lights and challenging city buses and stuff. There are plenty of safe cyclists, though. Not maligning all bike people.
As a native NYer who has been riding bikes in this city for decades now is the most unsafe bike conditions ever & it’s due to due e-bikes, e-scooters & reckless riders who fail to obey traffic laws, they ride on the sidewalks, opposite traffic, thru red lights & most times they’re traveling at high speeds. It’s a tragedy & completely preventable
They think cyclists know the rules of the road, most don't. They've never driven & there's no test before you ride! I'm surprised there hasn't been more! I've seen some crazy stuff especially when the run through red lights! I don't want to see someone get creamed by a car! They don't stop to think the inky protection they have is their bones! Which don't hold up against tons of metal!
