Mellie, YES, the chopper OFTEN flies around looping in East Oakland, especially during the summer when crime upticks. Sometimes it’s patrolling to assist OPD on the ground, and other times it’s actively searching for someone. You’ll also hear the sheriff’s and CHP’s prop planes looping around throughout the summer more, too. Including hours of hummmmming overhead into the wee hours of the morning. It gets tiresome.
