When the temperature outside goes up, Con Ed lowers the voltage from 110/120 down to 80/90 volts ( to save the grid...BS). What this does is when big items such as refrigerators and air-conditioned and car chargers need more power they pull power in Amperage.. This amperage causes heat which cooks wires and overheats extension cords and the items themselves causing fires... Also your electric meter bills by amperage use.. They get to charge higher prices... It's a scam they pull every summer..

Your electric bill is calculated by how many Kilowatt hours you use. Not by how many amps. If they cut your voltage but the amps increase the wattage would stay the same. The reason they charge more every summer is cause everyone and their mother wants to have their AC on
