 just got home, heard a gunshot, believes it's the neighbor outside shooting his rifle.

 Scared the caller. The caller ran back in his house, got his gun, and is now threatening on a recorded line that if the neighbor shoots again, he's going to shoot back.

 Apparently, this is an ongoing issue. The neighbor has shot this calling party's dog in the past. Only name that I have is Steve for the neighbor. Unknown last name.
