He went directly into the sidewalk. Looked drunk coming out of the car. Could have ran someone over.
He's really lucky he didn't actually hit a sign, light pole, or cement wall. He skinned a tree and totaled his SUV by barrelling through the sign and the wall at speed. He's lucky to be alive and that nobody else appears to have been hit. There's a bus stop and library on that intersection.
