Phoenix City buses are equipped with a driver activated distress signal. During a serious emergency such as an assault or medical emergency, the driver can flip a covert alarm that shows “Call Police” on the buses teleprompting sign. At times the system is triggered for testing or by mistake but should always be treated by bystanders as a life threatening emergency. If you see a bus flashing their emergency signal, call 911 and include the bus number and location.
Good to know they're equipped like that.
