Timeline

Sgt. Hines added that the crash highlights the dangers of getting out of a vehicle on the freeway, especially at night. “It’s very dangerous and we would advise the public that anytime you are involved in a traffic crash, if at all possible, move to the right shoulder,” he said. “And if not, in your vehicle with your seatbelt [buckled] is the safest place to be.”

California Highway Patrol Sergeant Hines, who spoke with KTLA at 7 a.m. Saturday, provided more details on the incident, explaining that multiple crashes occurred. “This started with a solo crash that caused the vehicle to be disabled in the number one lane,” Sgt. Hines told KTLA. “A second vehicle came and rear-ended that vehicle, then a third vehicle immediately following that crashed into one of the parties and the first vehicle.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department stated that the crash was reported around 1:56 a.m. Saturday on the westbound span of the 101 Freeway near White Oak Avenue in Encino.

You are asking too much from these goons

SpikeStripApr 25 at 8:52 AM

That stretch is so unsafe. It's poorly lit and people are flying

One thing ima say , for some reason everyone on the freeway never pays attention when there’s an accident or if there is someone changing there tire. That’s where I seen the craziest accidents

bigrich7799Apr 25 at 8:32 AM

But why would you be changing your tire in the fast lane? Why not get off the fwy OR pull over to the shoulder OR stay in your car with your seat belt on until police arrive to escort you off the fwy? Just sayin
