Driver Trapped After Truck Crash Knocks Down Freeway Wall

A box truck needed a heavy-duty tow, and a lowboy was requested after the back part of the truck came apart. One person was reported with a major leg injury, per CHP.

The crash caused a large diesel spill across three lanes, and crews asked for absorbent because of the immediate hazard.

Authorities said all lanes were briefly held. Later, only the HOV and lanes 1 and 2 were open, and a SigAlert was requested for about 2 1/2 hours.

Later updates said the truck hit the right-side wall and may have involved as many as five other vehicles. A white sedan was also reported near the shoulder area, and debris went down the embankment.

Early reports said the semi may have jackknifed and was blocking the slow lane.
