Prayers go out to the crew of that Southbound F! As someone who has been operating trains for 13+ years, it is a horrible feeling knowing your train came into contact with a living being!

I was on the F train, they were bringing in stretchers. And flashing their flashlights on the bottom of the tracks. Seems like someone was killed unfortunately. We were stuck in the train for a whole hour, one of the conductors came through and opened all the windows for the entire train.

@louisvilleUser1818149001 Depression isn’t a logical illness, and suicide is often spur of the moment, but most people do not understand that. I get why it can feel aggravating People commit suicide by train multiple times a week, and each time it affects tens of thousands (or more). Folks get frustrated because the person committing the act is aware of the effect it will have on other NYers, and that it will traumatize the operator who has to witness it. It can feel selfish. The deceased deserves empathy of course, but being forced to participate in someone else’s suicide can be an exercise in patience
