The off-duty officer also went to a hospital and was in stable condition. The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad and the attorney general’s office are investigating.
The female passenger was also thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. Medics took her to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was in critical but stable condition.
The impact threw Thomas from the motorcycle and caused severe head trauma. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
