Summary
- On July 7, 2025, police responded to a report of approximately 40 people blocking the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd and Hyde Park Blvd in Los Angeles, California. The situation escalated as officers at the scene came under attack, prompting additional units to respond. Police utilized batons and helmets to manage the situation and attempted to make arrests. Efforts were made to disperse the crowd by directing them westbound into a parking lot.
- As the situation developed, additional police units arrived to assist in managing the crowd. Fireworks were reported near the southeast corner, and police continued efforts to control the situation. The crowd was successfully moved out of the parking lot, although some individuals attempted to return. Police redirected traffic and pushed the crowd north to clear the intersection.
- Police consolidated the crowd to the east side of the street and planned further actions to manage the situation. They coordinated to clear the remaining crowd towards Victoria, using caution and setting up barriers to manage traffic. An individual in a black hoodie and gray sweats was monitored near the coin laundry, moving towards Crenshaw. Small groups of individuals were observed on sidewalks near 11th and Hyde Park, with plans to condense them towards the northeast corner of Hyde Park and Crenshaw. A scrimmage line was established to hold the north side, and police checked for any vandalism to vehicles.
