Around 2:57 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a domestic dispute, per an official press conference. A woman said a possibly armed man was en route to the location with violent intent. Officers arrived and entered the apartment, and found a 25-year-old man inside. He brandished a knife and approached the officers, prompting one of them to deploy his taser, which was ineffective. After the man continued to approach the officers—getting within a few feet—one of them fired two shots, striking the man in the chest. The man has since died from his injuries.
