NYPD officials report that around 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a Bronx home where a 34-year-old man was holding his mother at knifepoint. After de-escalation attempts failed and threats to kill continued, an officer shot the suspect, freeing the mother. The suspect is in critical condition, with no other injuries reported.
