A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the massive fire that scorched tens of thousands of acres in New Jersey last week. An unidentified 17-year-old has been criminally charged, with authorities saying he was partially responsible for the fire. The first suspect charged last week was 19-year-old Joseph Kling. Police say the 17-year-old helped Kling start a bonfire with wooden pallets, and then both of them left the area before it was put out. He is also accused of giving police "misinformation...about how the fire started."
According to WGAL, multiple areas are under voluntary evacuation recommendation: - Shippensburg Road from Whitmer Road to Thompson Hollow Road (aka Forest Road) - Whitmer Road between Thompson Hollow Road and Ivy Lane Residents are able to seek refuge at the Southampton Township Cumberland County municipal building at 200 Airport Road in Shippensburg.
A major wildfire continues to burn in New Jersey, ripping through more than 15,000 acres as officials warn weather conditions mean it may spread rapidly. The fire is about 60% contained.
