Praying for the person swimming at 10pm @ 50°F

SeattleUser711397007May 28 at 1:33 AM

In the cold waters of Lake Washington, with temperatures at 9.7°C (49.4°F), the individual overboard would have experienced immediate cold shock, leading to rapid breathing and potential inhalation of water. Within 10-15 minutes, muscle function would have deteriorated, significantly impairing their ability to swim. After 30-60 minutes, hypothermia would have set in, causing confusion, loss of dexterity, and likely unconsciousness. Now, having been in the water for 2.3 hours, the severity of hypothermia would be critical, drastically reducing their chances of survival without immediate rescue. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her, her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
