The 69-year-old brick structure, heavily damaged by the intense fire, appears to have housed a cannabis operation (whether this was a legally permitted business, has yet to be determined). During their initial attack on the flames, four of the first arriving firefighters experienced an unexpected burning sensation to their faces. Pursuant to protocol, the four firefighters, in fair condition and without other medical complaints, have been taken to an area hospital for a comprehensive medical examination.
No other injuries were reported, and no escalating or off-site hazards have been identified.
