Literally was just thinking of this 30 minutes ago: I'm going to get hit by a car one of these days. I cross this intersection 2x a day and the cars are ruthless - they ride your behind hoping to squeeze by you to get on the freeway, instead of waiting for people in the crosswalk to finish crossing the street. And the SFMTA officers that are supposed to direct traffic don't do anything! 95% of the time they just stand on the sidewalk and watch cars cut through people. I'm sure they're getting payed well to do absolutely nothing
@chinabasin maybe the reason ur worried about is the same reason sfmta officer won’t stand in the street also🤷🏻♂️
The first responders did a great job, not just in the immediate scene, but also directing traffic in the blocks around. Also the mta and muni drivers too (the scene blocked two light rail lines). Grateful to them all
Making it a no turn on red would not solve the problem. When the crosswalk light is on, so is their green light, but they inch towards you. The cars get so close to pedestrians sometimes I can touch the hood of their cars. They don’t wait for pedestrians at all!!!
They should do an all-ways crossing phase with red for cars all directions - like intersections near big train stations in Japan. I think I saw they started to do one light like that somewhere near Civic Center recently...
I take this way to work everyday, people are too eager to turn right while pedestrians are walking I see it everyday. This is sad more than likely someone going home from work smh
