These Ebike shops should NEVER have been allowed in Residential buildings with SO MANY Ebikes and those very flammable battaries yet much in these ancient old dilapidated tenenament buildings without sprinklers/etc. Now those people who had to live above it lost everything, theyre mostly elderly and in poverty, God knows how many pets, and those 2 victims may lose their lives. Its also the Landlord's fault for allowing any high risk ebike business to be there in the first place. But they didnt care- they just cared about profits not residents lives and safety! Plus the 3 longstanding local food businesses on the Catherine street side are destroyed. When is the Local Gov going to end the sale of these highly volatile batteries already!?

EVERYONE, PLEASE BUY (2) FIRE EXTINGUISHERS FOR YOUR HOME AND WATCH A FEW YOUTUBE VIDEOS, BY FIRE FIGHTERS ON HOW TO USE THEM. KEEP (1) IN YOUR KITCHEN WASY TO REACH (away from Children) & (1) IN YOUR BEDROOM EASY TO REACH. NEVER EVER LEAVE THESE E-BIKES CHARGING WHEN ASLEEP OR AWAY. THEY LITERALLY EXPLODE INTO BALLS OF FIRE. BE RESPONSIBLE AND PROTECT YOUR AND OTHERS LIVES. IT IS NO JOKE.

@calypso42 and the extinguisher, there are specific ones for e-bikes. For the chemical component of the battery. Just specify when you look into it that you want to also get one for this type of thing because you never know When your neighbor might also have a situation and you’re not aware.

Its people with ebikes who are using the wrong chargers , or probably overcharging their e bikes. I have one recently bought one a couple months ago. Its called (Lectric) seems good i only use the battery that belongs to the bike company and the charger as well, only keep the bike plugged into the outlet when i am awake and i have a timer for the set time which is 4-6 hours Ngl its very scary hearing about these bike fires. My bike stays off and doesn’t charge at all when i am sleeping

A lot of apartments already prohibit storing them for good reason.

susna2nycJun 20 at 2:38 PM

@RightLogic They may prohibit it, but most don’t enforce it! 🥺
