Five Shot in Homicide, Suspect Detained After Exchanging Gunfire With Police

A total of five individuals were treated at local hospitals for gunshot wounds and three officers were transported to local hospitals for observation.
The CPD has identified five victims in the shooting: a 21-year-old woman was shot in the hand and is in an unknown condition; a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the chest and leg who is in critical condition; an 18-year-old man critically shot in the back; a 16-year-old teen boy with a gunshot wound to the leg who is in stable condition. The fifth victim is a 14-year-old teen boy who was fatally shot in the chest.
Officers were able to detain the suspect a short time later and discovered the man had a gunshot wound to the leg. It is currently unclear how the suspect sustained the gunshot wound.
The CPD continues to advise that when officers arrived on the scene, they also observed a man with a gun. The suspect then discharged his gun toward the police. An officer returned fire and the suspect fled the scene.
