Two Officers Stabbed, Suspect Fatally Shot

345 Birchwood Rd, Medford

The two officers who were seriously injured were transported to area hospitals via helicopter and ambulance. A third officer was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to an update provided by the Suffolk County Police Department, two officers were stabbed and seriously injured after responding to a reported altercation involving two adults. During the incident, multiple officers fired shots and fatally wounded the suspect.

Nichols Rd is the primary road closure at this time. Drivers should choose a different route.

Traffic on Nichols Rd will be blocked until the patients have been delivered to their destination.

According to police and EMS reports, a third officer was injured at the scene. Their injuries are minor but they will be transported to a hospital.

Officers will be closing roads to clear the way for emergency medical transit. Traffic on Granny Rd, Nichols Rd, and Horseblock Road will be affected.

Officers confirmed the suspect was fatally shot after stabbing two police officers.

@cekcekcek marijuana use has also shown to trigger schizophrenia, or schizophrenia-like symptoms, in those who have a certain genetic mutation known as the COMT mutation, which is linked to certain types of mental illnesses. This appears to occur mainly in teens and young adults; males more than females. When I worked for an in-patient MH facility, there were residents whose schizophrenia was triggered by illicit drug use.
