Summary
A suspect was found dead in Brooklyn Wednesday morning, two days after the fatal shooting of a woman and wounding of her neighbor in an apartment building in Ridgewood, Queens.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, the NYPD confirmed that the victim killed was a civilian member of the police department with 11 years of service.
The suspect was identified as 55-year-old Pedro Cintron.
[Reports](https://nypost.com/2022/05/11/pedro-cintron-suspect-in-fatal-nyc-shooting-commits-suicide-cops/) said that Cintron shot himself in the head in "public view" on McKibbin Street near Manhattan Avenue in Williamsburg at about 7:50 a.m. A gun was found at the scene, according to radio communications.
On Tuesday at 8:17 a.m., officers responded to 66-17 Fresh Pond Rd for a report of a woman shot.
Officers first located a 48-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds. They then found a 51-year-old woman, later identified as NYPD employee Migdalia Ortega, with a fatal gunshot wound on the floor above. She was pronounced dead later that morning at an area hospital, while the first victim was in critical but stable condition.
Officials said at a briefing that the shooting happened during a domestic dispute between Ortega and Cintron, who were in a relationship, on the third floor of the building.
The 48-year-old woman who lived on floor below checked on her neighbors when she was shot at through the door.
The suspect then reportedly chased her while continuing to fire. She was struck twice.
Police said her family will receive assistance from the department.
A search continued for Cintron and his vehicle for nearly 48 hours until he was found dead Wednesday morning.
The incident is under investigation with NYPD detectives.
Anyone with information is asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at [800-577-TIPS](tel:800-577-8477) or send a DM on Twitter to [@NYPDTips](http://twitter.com/nypdtips).

Sad af it’s wild early in the morning kids are going to school and this mayor is worried about ppl selling food in the train station. He needs to get these guns off the streets seriously
@charlotte143 we need a young mayor to understand the problems
It’s going to be a wild summer 🤦🏾
Men need to accept if a woman doesn’t want to be with them. They don’t have to act violent and destroy so many lives. These type of men have very low self esteem and just cannot accept rejection Smfh plenty of fish in the sea to be acting like a coward. Their ego gets the best of them.
@Lakerland30 your a sick person who needs help.
The cops can only do so much when bail reform reversed the arrests they make. Imagine doing your job, and then everything you did was taken in vain. Your morale would be down too.
They need to get rid of this bail reform. It's only going to get worse with other cases. ie: as food shortages increase later this year.
