Summary

Two hundred firefighters battled a 5-alarm fire at a mall in Downtown Flushing Thursday morning, FDNY officials said.

Crews placed the fire under control at about 11:30 a.m., more than five hours after it broke out at 40-10 Main Street.

At around 6 a.m., firefighters responding to a 911 call found flames at the mall, which is home to approximately 30 kiosks.

The fire, described by FDNY Acting Chief of Operations Richard Blatus as "very stubborn", was eventually raised to a fifth alarm to request additional units and resources to the scene.

In total, 200 FDNY members responded, Blatus said.

Crews are continuing to operate at the scene, where fire marshals are investigating.

No injuries have been reported.

This story is developing. Citizen will provide updates as they become available.

I can’t believe how many selfish, crybaby people are on here. 1) There is a 5 alarm fire and you people are whining about MTA changing routes, delaying service and possibly stopping some service temporarily. 2) Then you are too lazy to go online and look at how to work around the problem because you get on here and ask how to get places. That is literally what the MTA site will tell you - whether through the app or the online site. It is your responsibility to get to work. 3) In case no one of the above groups cannot see - there are 200 firemen risking their lives to contain and extinguish this fire. Wouldn’t you like them to do the same if it was your property without people complying about bullshit, petty things? And you know exactly who you are and this is not aimed at everyone. JUST SAYIN’

@BrendaC1934 yes 200 firefighters, where 180 of them is doing nothing the whole day but watching. Guess where our tax go huh

This spot need a priest, rabbi and imam and any other religious to cleanse this block of any bad juju lingering since Wendy’s massacre. God bless FDNY and Wendy’s victims/families
