Summary

Two people were injured and 22 were displaced by a two-alarm fire in the Mission District early Thursday morning, firefighters said.

At 12:18 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 3036 16th Street.

Upon arrival, crews located "an outside debris fire" that spread to a building made up of Taqueria Los Coyotes and three floors of apartments, according to SFFD officials.

At 12:45 a.m., a second alarm was called to request additional units and resources to the scene.

The fire was placed under control at 1:46 a.m.

Two people were transported to area hospitals to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials said 13 apartments were damaged in the fire, displacing 22 residents. The Red Cross and City Services responded to help the affected residents.

An evaluation of the damage to Taqueria Los Coyotes is being conducted and City Services has been contacted for assistance.
