Two Police Officers and Suspect Killed in Harlem Shooting

Two NYPD officers and a suspect were killed after a shooting in Harlem Friday, January 21, officials said.
At around 6:15 p.m., officers were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at 119 West 135th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Malcolm X. Boulevard.
The three officers arrived at the scene and went inside the front room of an apartment with a mother and son who said there had been a dispute with her other son, the 47-year-old suspect.
The suspect was in the back bedroom, separated from the front by a 30-foot hallway.
According to an update from NYPD officials, one officer stayed with the mother while two approached the back room.
As they approached, the door swung open and the suspect fired at the officers, striking them multiple times.
The suspect tried to flee but was stopped and shot by the remaining officer in the arm and head. He was reportedly listed in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
The two wounded officers were rushed to nearby Harlem Hospital.
Despite life-saving efforts the 22-year-old officer succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital, NYPD officials said.
On Tuesday, January 25, the second officer Wilbert Mora succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
According to officials, the gun used in the shooting was a Glock 45 with an extended high-capacity magazine, which was reportedly stolen in Baltimore in 2017.
Detectives are continuing to investigate.
