Upon arrival, crews saw that one building had exploded, destroying three units.
They searched the two adjacent buildings for any occupants, and did not find anyone remaining inside.
FDNY Chief John Hodgens said two women were in the building at the time of the explosion. Firefighters found them lying on the ground outside.
EMS personnel transported them to an area hospital, where one of the women was pronounced dead.

Fix the heat so these people in their homes won’t be cold just how I am and I’m paying $2000 in rent with my children it’s ridiculous blessings upon you all I hope for protection against all of us
@MindYaBFUCK Amen
Everyone's blaming the current & former mayors, the cops, the Democrats... Nobody's talking about these bum ass landlords that allow unsafe living conditions
Exactly, people trying to stay warm bc their landlord isnt providing heat
THE KIDS AT THE DAYCARE ARE FINE. Just traumatized from the EXPLOSION. They were already evacuated. Not sure if parents were notified but the children across the street at the daycare are fine.
@CharliePrince Thank God, I was worried about them, thank you for the information…
With all these random fires, I hope ya have a "just in case" bag set up. I sure do! You never know what's gonna happen... smh.
