Four Injured in Four-Alarm Fire Spreading to Three Buildings

Four people were injured in a four-alarm fire that spread through three buildings in Van Nest Tuesday night, FDNY officials said.

At 7:46 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of an apartment fire at 611 Mead Street.

Upon arrival, crews located heavy fire in the building.

FDNY Assistant Chief Joseph Jardin [said](https://twitter.com/FDNY/status/1471105299494879241?s=20) the fire quickly spread to two adjoining buildings, 609 Mead Street and 615 Mead Street.

The blaze was raised to a fourth alarm to request additional units to the scene. In total, approximately 200 FDNY members responded to the scene.

Crews were still battling the blaze at 9:30 p.m., and [Channel 7 Eyewitness News](https://abc7ny.com/bronx-fire-4-alarm-van-nest-fdny/11341148/) reported they were still at the scene and putting out hot spots at midnight.

On Wednesday morning, Jardin said firefighters were able to contain the flames to the three buildings.

Four civilians were transported to area hospitals for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

According to local news reports, six families were displaced by the fire.

Fire Marshals are on the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
