Seven Firefighters Injured in Five-Alarm Building Fire

Seven firefighters were injured after a fire ripped through several floors of an apartment building in Brooklyn Heights Friday morning, officials said.

At 6:08 a.m, firefighters responded to a report of smoke inside 132 Montague Street.

Upon arrival, crews discovered flames spurting out from the building and began working to extinguish the blaze.

The fire had rapidly spread through the second, third, fourth, and fifth floors of the building.

During the operation, four firefighters became trapped inside the building. They were quickly removed by FDNY personnel and given treatment, according to a social media post by the FDNY.

Four alarms were transmitted for the fire and over 200 FDNY personnel were at the scene before it was declared under control at 9:30 a.m.

Seven total firefighters sustained injuries and are being treated at area hospitals. All were reported to have injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
