- At that time, additional units were called, including the Emergency Service Unit and a hostage negotiation team.
- Officials said the negotiators had been communicating with the suspect until he became unresponsive. Police observed him appearing to be lying on the apartment floor.
- The officers then entered the apartment and discovered the suspect dead with a gunshot wound to the head. A firearm was observed next to his body.

- ABC 7 reported the suspect's name is Antonio Armstrong and that he had a warrant for assault against a woman and criminal contempt. He was also reportedly wanted for questioning regarding a fatal shooting into a crowd in front of 45 W. 139th St. on Sept. 13.
