Didn't look too good for him. Wasn't breathing and had fluids coming up his throat all over etc. They didn't drag him to shore because they used a crane and body board to pull him out of the water. They had harbor patrol dive in after him but it looks like a suicide attempt that may have worked unfortunately

A spokesperson with the SMPD has stated the LA County Lifeguards notified SMPD, Harbor Patrol, and SMFD of someone in the water. Harbor patrol used a basket and a hoist to get the person onto the pier. The person had no pulse and life saving measures were started. They worked and the patient was transported to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

Can they actually die from jumping off a pier? (Assuming they know how to swim..)

Terrillallan6Sep 22 at 5:39 PM

Yes, I recorded the video and there is pier pilings under and can get caught and die.

@lindatorres0905 Did you see the individual in the water drowning or jumping into the water? Because usually they would bring the patient back onto the shore on the beach and not onto the pier as thatโ€™s elevated and would take longer to transport them.
