Summary

The NYPD is asking for the public's assistance as it released surveillance footage of a fatal double shooting and armed robbery on the border of Washington Heights and Inwood early Monday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:48 a.m. near 160 Dyckman Street.

Three suspects exited a vehicle and ran up to the two victims—a 34-year-old man sitting in a BMW and a 33-year-old standing outside the vehicle—displaying handguns and demanding the victims hand over their property, a statement by the NYPD said.

One suspect shot the driver in the head as he tried to drive away, causing him to crash into the side of 175 Dyckman Street where the vehicle came to a stop, police said. The suspect then removed the driver's watch, ring, and chain.

The other two suspects forcibly removed the other victim's chain from his neck and shot him in the groin as he ran from the scene, police said.

The suspects then entered a Honda Accord that was operated by a fourth suspect and drove off northbound on Vermilyea Avenue.

The 34-year-old was pronounced dead and the 33-year-old was transported by EMS to a hospital in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the robbery-homicide on Tuesday in effort to identify the suspects and their vehicle.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (888-57-PISTA for Spanish), or submit a tip online at [nypdcrimestoppers.com](http://nypdcrimestoppers.com) or on Twitter [@NYPDTips](http://twitter.com/nypdtips).

Uptown is just out of control! From dirt bikes on the sidewalks, cars running lights and on the wrong side of the road during the day. It's just not safe . Double parked cars everywhere, people just doing whatever they want!it's like we live in a 3rd world country
