Summary

One person was killed after a two-alarm fire ripped through a residential building in Bed-Stuy early Wednesday morning, officials said.

At approximately 6:21 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a person trapped in a fire at a townhouse near Pulaski Street and Nostrand Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a person injured as the fire tore through the third and fourth floors of the structure.

Medics pronounced the patient deceased on scene.

Firefighters quickly called a second alarm, requesting additional units to the scene.

Twenty-five units and 106 firefighters worked for about an hour, eventually extinguishing the fire at 7:11 a.m.

@007BklynEagle if it moved quickly, it might not have mattered. People definitely need some fire safety courses, like don’t put water on an oil fire, watch out for gas not lighting, etc. Fire can spread quickly when people try to extinguish and don’t know what they’re doing
