Auto Burglary Suspect Shot by Police Near Oracle Park

Summary
An auto burglary suspect was injured after being shot by a police officer near Oracle Park Friday afternoon.
Plainclothes officers investigating an auto burglary suspect were near the corner of Varney Place and 3rd Street around 12:48 p.m. when they witnessed a vehicle believed to be involved in the crimes.
Officers approached the vehicle and found three people inside, all suspected of being involved in the burglaries.
According to a press briefing by Officer Robert Rueca of the SFPD, during the encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
At least one suspect, described as an adult man, was struck by gunfire while the remaining two suspects fled in their vehicle.
Officers rendered aid to the man while medics arrived. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Reuca could not confirm to the press that any weapons were used by the suspects, and could not provide further information about what actions led up to the shooting.
