Woman Hospitalized, Dog Fatally Injured in Hunts Point Apartment Fire

Summary
A fire in Hunts Point Friday afternoon left a woman hospitalized and resulted in the death of a dog.
At around 6:20 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a house fire near the corner of Hunts Point Avenue and Bryant Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the first story of the home had become consumed in flames that spewed black smoke.
According to an update by the FDNY, firefighters entered the home and located a woman in one of the upstairs bedrooms and were able to rescue her from the building.
Units began working to extinguish the flames which were declared under control around by around 7:35 p.m. with over 100 firefighters and medics at the scene.
The woman was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
