Summary

Two gunmen fatally shot a man and wounded another in Concourse Saturday night before they were shot at and eventually detained by police, officials said.

At around 6:30 p.m., three officers in the area of E 166th Street and Findlay Avenue heard gunshots nearby. Immediately after, two men with guns ran by, chasing after another man and firing at him. The victim was struck multiple times.

During a press conference held by NYPD officials, Assistant Chief Kenneth Lehr stated the officers then drew their firearms and fired at the gunmen, striking one of them.

The two suspects then fled west onto 166th Street and north on College Avenue where they encountered two other officers.

The men threw their weapons under a van and then surrendered to the police.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.

The suspect who had sustained gunfire was taken to an area hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

Lehr added that another unintended victim was discovered by police who was shot in the arm. Police performed first aid on the man before medics arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

Homicide detectives, as well as investigators from several other agencies, are involved in an ongoing investigation.

The firearms were recovered.

There is no one person to blame, you make it what it is. It’s not the Bronx or Deblasio nor Cuomo it’s we the people who have to unite and put an end of all this violence, take pride in building up the Bronx not giving it a bad name the place where many of us call home. I can say I want a change for our future generations who can be the person they day dream of being by just doing it.
