Very sad. As a newcomer to NYC from Europe it’s really shocking how many fires there are in NYC. I don’t think there’s as much uptake here in using smoke alarms in the home and generously. Of all the reporting I’ve seen of fires on local New York TV stations they never say whether the home had smoke alarms and don’t seem to use the opportunity to highlight this (which is common for the media to do in Europe)
@AMwilde smoke alarms are mandatory in every apartment. Unfortunately, people forget to change the batteries
I passed through there today it's unfortunate that one lady died it's pretty sad
The primary search is complete. ONE PERSON HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE FIRE APARTMENT. THE VICTIM IS DECEASED AS PER EMS ON THE SCENE.
