Two US Marshals Injured, Suspect Killed After Cross-State Fugitive Search

According to a report by the USMS, members of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force were involved in an operation early this morning in Wakefield.
The team was searching for Andre Sterling, a 35-year-old man who was wanted for the shooting of Massachusetts State Trooper John Lennon in Hyannis on November 20th.
By 5:30 a.m. the marshalls found the man near Edenwald Avenue and Ely Avenue. They approached him and in the confrontation, an exchange of gunfire broke out. Two of the marshalls were struck by bullets, one to the leg, and the other to the arm and leg. Sterling was fatally shot.
Paramedics transported the two marshals to an area hospital where they are expected to make a full recovery.
Initial reports stated an NYPD detective was injured at the scene but not shot. Police reported their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
A second suspect was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for observation. They were not injured in the shooting.
