Two Firefighters Injured in Three-Alarm Blaze in Throggs Neck

Summary

A massive fire broke out on a residential block in Throggs Neck early Monday morning. At least three houses were destroyed or severely damaged, and two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The fire was reported just before 1:30 a.m. on the 2500 block of Harding Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene and reported that fire was threatening multiple homes.

Within minutes, firefighters raised the fire to a second alarm, requesting additional units.

User video showed the rear side of several homes engulfed in heavy flames.

At around 1:50 a.m., firefighters raised the incident to a third alarm.

The FDNY stated that 138 firefighters from 33 units were on hand to battle the fire. They placed it under control at 2:56 a.m.

Two firefighters suffered injuries, both of which were described by the FDNY as minor. At least one of the firefighters was transported to an area hospital.

It’s disgusting listening to the people who are taking these videos laughing, and joking around while someone else’s whole life is going up in flames, firefighters are sustaining injuries, and there are possibly people (possibly children)/pets in there. Smh.
