Summary

  • Two window washers were injured Saturday afternoon, after a scaffolding collapsed and caused them to fall 20 feet in Hudson Yards, firefighters say.
  • At 11:22 a.m., FDNY personnel responded to a report of a scaffolding malfunction with injuries at 30 Hudson Yards.
  • An FDNY official stated that upon arrival, firefighters found the collapsed scaffolding and two window washers 20 feet below on a structure on the roof of the 35th floor.
  • While initial reports made the impression that the workers had fallen 20 stories, the firefighters eventually clarified that this was not the case.
  • Firefighters say they were able to determine the window washers were conscious and opted not to wait for a ladder that could reach the 35th floor, instead cutting a hole in the window of the 37th floor to access the workers from above.
  • The window washers were quickly rescued and transported to area hospitals. While one of the workers sustained only minor injuries, the second was reportedly in serious but stable condition.

Man it’s a scary feeling I’ve work in construction for over 21 years then one day I fell off scaffold and it changed my life I was never the same again those guys are going to be different after this thank god I didn’t have serious injuries but I still feel those pains 3 years later.

@Prluv I am sorry you experienced that. Am glad you did not have serious injuries. Thank you for sharing your perspective. And @Bubbles420, don’t be an a$$hole.

Even my character in GTA wouldn't survive a fall like that, God was really on their side

goofydoodNov 14 at 11:11 AM

If they do survive, which I pray they do, they won’t have to work another day in their life nor their kids

checkthisout_Nov 14 at 12:17 PM

@lvngd yes. They might bring more problems to themselves rather than solving anything. I imagine no one who is able to get a job anywhere would work as a window cleaner
