Summary
A melee broke out in Midtown Sunday afternoon and led to the arrest of seven people as protesters clashed in Times Square, police say.
After a protest-filled day in NYC, multiple groups gathered in Times Square during the afternoon.
Police in the area requested multiple units for backup after a large fight broke out on W 46th Street and 7th Avenue around 1:40 p.m., according to radio transmissions from the NYPD.
Additional officers arrived at the scene, and by 1:47 p.m. an officer had reported that “everything is back to normal.”
Two people were reportedly injured during the brawl, although this is unconfirmed.
User footage from the scene showed multiple police officers convened in the city center.
A spokesperson for the NYPD told Citizen that the incident appears to have been a result of clashing protesters.
Five men and two women were arrested. Further circumstances surrounding the fight are unclear at this time.
The brawl was reported during a day of rallies in NYC supporting President Trump.
Earlier in the morning, a caravan of around 60 vehicles were seen traveling up FDR Drive with flags in tow. Another group was also seen supporting an unfurled banner that spanned the width of a city road near Midtown.

Glad to see the path train is running
@Nderosa they all came from Brooklyn, majority are Jewish supporters.
Why are they here when it’s a “ghost town”?
@DPjessG because we still have the ghosts lol
None of these ppl are from NYC. The outfits are a dead giveaway
@Bobavane yah the men are dressed like men go figure 😂🤣but people don’t see these guys a lot because they’re at work paying the tax so most can chill and smoke weed cause problems
If you were to get rid of one borough in NYC which would it be and why would you pick Staten Island ??
@Damo_Murphy Manhattan it’s trashy now
