A melee broke out in Midtown Sunday afternoon and led to the arrest of seven people as protesters clashed in Times Square, police say.

Police in the area requested multiple units for backup after a large fight broke out on W 46th Street and 7th Avenue around 1:40 p.m., according to radio transmissions from the NYPD.

Additional officers arrived at the scene, and by 1:47 p.m. an officer had reported that “everything is back to normal.”

Two people were reportedly injured during the brawl, although this is unconfirmed.
