Summary

A 35-year-old man was killed and another man was injured in a jet ski crash on the Harlem River Saturday night, police say.

Officers responded to the Harlem River near West 207th Street and 9th Avenue around 8 p.m. after receiving a report of a jet ski collision. Upon arrival, units discovered two unconscious and unresponsive men who had been drawn from the waters by eyewitnesses.

EMS responded and transported both victims to nearby hospitals, where the 35-year-old man was pronounced dead. The second victim, a 37-year-old man, received minor injuries and is expected to survive.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicated that both victims were riding jet skis and collided with one another in the river. No criminality has been suspected at this time.

The Medical Examiner will determine the victim’s exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

I hope they make these scooters illegal or make it so hard that you need full training and license to ride. Rip to the family. Sad

@ghettodetective it was a jet ski accident, not scooter.
